Course Descriptions
Mississippi Life University (MLU) uses a standardized course numbering system to indicate the level and sequence of courses within each department.
Number Ranges:
-
100–199 – Freshman Level: Introductory courses with no prerequisites, designed for students beginning their program of study.

200–299 – Sophomore Level: Intermediate courses that may require completion of certain 100-level courses.
-
300–399 – Junior Level: Upper-division courses requiring foundational knowledge in the subject.
-
400–499 – Senior Level: Advanced courses, typically requiring completion of specific prerequisites and junior-level courses.
-
500–599 – Graduate Level (Master’s): Specialized, advanced courses requiring a bachelor’s degree and admission to a graduate program.

600–699 – Graduate Research & Thesis: Independent study, research projects, and thesis preparation at the master’s level.
Letter Prefixes:
Each course number is preceded by a two- or three-letter prefix identifying the academic department or subject area. Examples include:

Description
​Bible Science (3 Hour Lecture) - This course will help students learn through scientific accounts the fallibility of the scientific method and documented cases of major scientific discoveries in the modern era present powerful testimony to the validity of Scripture and the frailty of human reason.
​Greek Theology I (3 Hour Lecture) - This course will help students to learn Biblical and Classic Greek. This course is a prerequisite to FLG 351 Greek Theology II.

​English Composition I (3 Hour Lecture) - This course will prepare studentsto think critically and compose texts for academic and professional rhetorical situations. This course is a prerequisite to ENG 341 English Composition II.

development and delivery of expository sermons.

THE 362
English Composition II (3 Hour Lecture) - This course is a continuation of ENG 340 English Composition I with emphasis on research, argumentation, and composition. Readings, essays, and a research paper are required.
Greek Theology II (3 Hour Lecture) -This is a continuation of FLG 350 Greek Theology I with emphasis on Biblical and Classical Greek.
​Writer’s Block (3 Hour Lecture) - This course will help students to learn book writing skills, by visualizing, organizing, writing faster and easier, more specifically, to get into the flow of writing.
Advance Public Speaking (3 Hour Lecture) - This course will help
students to learn how to increase their speaking abilities across a variety of more specific and complex contexts such as, classroom activities. Content will be learning to speak to international and remote audiences.
Christian Growth (3 Hour Lecture) - This course will help students understand themselves better and to help them to evaluate their relationship and service to Christ, bringing them into a stronger faith.

Church Administration (3 Hours Lecture) - This course equips students with the biblical and practical foundations necessary to lead and manage church operations with excellence and integrity. Emphasizing stewardship, governance, strategic planning, financial management, and organizational health, students will explore how effective administration supports spiritual vision and ministry impact. Drawing from principles found in Acts and Nehemiah, the course prepares leaders to build healthy systems that protect the mission, empower people, and advance the work of the Church with clarity, accountability, and purpose.

College Algebra (3 Hour Lecture) - This course will help students learn about numbers, polynomials, inequalities, sequences and sums, many types of functions, and how to solve them. Students will also gain a deeper insight into mathematical models by practicing many examples and questions.

Qualities of a Leader (3 Hour Lecture) - This course will help students learn practical tools and insights into developing the qualities found in great leaders.

​Officiate of Ceremonies (3 Hour Lecture) - This course will help students learn Christian ritual observances and procedures performed at communions, weddings, funerals, and baptisms.

​Ministerial Ethics (3 Hour Lecture) - This course will examine the moral and ethical responsibilities and challenges facing today’s Spirit-filled minsters and laypeople alike. Students will learn the basis for Christian Ethics, Ethics and Church Doctrine and Ethics in Practical Ministry.

Pulpit Etiquette (3 Hour Lecture) - This course will help students learn that their words, actions, and appearance matter and are extremely important variables affecting the flow, cohesiveness, and overall impact in church services.

Armor Bearer (3 Hour Lecture) - This course will help students learn the functions of the Old and New Testament Armorbearers, how to develop the spirit of an Armorbearer, how to understand their call and fulfill their purpose, how to run with the house vision, and how to bloom where God has planted them.

Altar Call (3 Hour Lecture) - This course will help students learn an instrumental plan while conducting altar work. This course will prepare students to handle in an organized fashion the response to an Altar Call in order to help meet the needs of those who respond, in small and large numbers.
Gilgal (3 Hour Lecture) - This course will help students learn prayer basics, worship essentials, fundamentals of faith, and character and integrity.
​Bethel (3 Hour Lecture) - This course will help students learn the laws and requirements of service in the House of God.
Jericho (3 Hour Lecture) - This course will help students learn the fabric of which ministry is comprised, its impact beyond the walls of the church, and into the community and ultimately the world.
Church Planting (3 Hour Lecture) - This course will help students learn the pragmatical functions of the local church, with an emphasis on coming into alignment with spiritual and civil government.
